Daily Devotion on Colossians 3:12-17

Text:  Colossians 3:12-17

Last week millions of cameras around the country flashed brightly and captured yet another Christmas tradition–the Christmas family picture. Whether at churches or at home, around the Christmas tree, or at a photo studio–families across America make extra effort to take pictures of their families when they are dressed the best.

As people in this world, our spiritual dress isn’t so flashy or stylish. In fact, it’s downy right dirty and dingy–soiled by our countless sins. But Paul reminds us today that we have been dressed with the righteousness of Christ. All our sins are forgiven and our spiritual clothing appears bright, white, and clean.

Paul then encourages us today to live as we are dressed–with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. In order to do so,we can be strengthened by daily being in the Word of God, praying, and praising the Lord.

Loving and living in such a way–as Christ as loved and forgave us–will lead us to do all things in thanks to him! This Christmas, and every day, don with pride and joy your new “Christmas” clothing!

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, as you have forgiven me, lead me to forgive others. As you have loved me, lead me to love others. Fill my heart with your peace and joy that I may shine brightly as a reflection of your love.  Amen
