Daily Devotion on Psalm 84

Text: Psalm 84

I’m but a stranger here. Heaven is my home.

These words from a beautiful hymn sum up this Psalm nicely. There are times in our lives when we are surrounded by the blessings of God and we are ok with life on this sinful earth. There are other times in our lives, when hardships and troubles knock us to our knees, when we yearn to be in God’s house with the Psalmists.

Regardless of how well things may or may not be going in your life right now, heaven is still your home. “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.” This is the amazing comfort that Christianity offers that is unique from every other earthly religion. Heaven is ours, and it will be a grand time!

This End Time season we have been speaking of Judgment Day often. The other aspect of the End Times that should be in the front of our minds is heaven. This world is so corrupt it is impossible to know what perfection is. By the grace of God, the life and death of Jesus, we will one day know perfection. We one day will sit in God’s perfect presence and know that heaven will last forever.

“How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.”

Prayer: God Almighty, we rotten sinners don’t deserve even an ounce of your love, but you give us it all. You paid our entrance fee to heaven. It is ours at death. Let the comfort that comes from an eternal heavenly home guide our thoughts in this world. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
