Video of the Week: Do You Believe in Miracles?

The video of this week is about miracles. Many in this world seem to be divided on the subject of miracles. Some believe quite fervently in miracles and even believe that miracles occur quite frequently still today. Others deny miracles completely–they neither have ever happened nor do happen now.

The latter has always been a viewpoint of non-Christians. But sadly, more and more Christians are taking that viewpoint as well. Claiming science as their foundation and rationale, many Christians are removing all supernatural from the Bible. Instead, they see the Bible as simply a book of myths or fables that guides us in life. For example, these people might say, “Jesus never calmed a storm by speaking. That’s impossible. But the story is just about how Jesus helps us during the ‘storms of our lives.'” Or they might say, “Jonah was never swallowed by a fish. That’s impossible. That story is simply about the ‘big fish’ problems of our lives that sometimes ‘swallow us.'”

As Christians, our faith essentially relies on miracles. The Bible is filled with them. Jesus birth, life, death, and resurrection are all miracles. Thus, this is an important question. Watch the video below by Pastor Timothy Schwartz of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Yakima, WA as he talks about miracles and why we firmly believe in them.
