Preach the Word

It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.  (Isaiah 55:11)

On Monday and Tuesday this week, pastors from all over north and central Florida are gathering at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Maitland, FL for a conference.  The theme for conference is that God Calls Us to Be Faithful and Fearless Preachers.  The emphasis and application of the conference has been through a seminar on preaching.

Being faithful and fearless as a preacher is no easy task–not just for pastors, but for all Christians.  Persecution, suffering, doubters, and scoffers all await those who share the Word of God.  It can quickly become discouraging to share the Word of God with so much opposition.

But God gives a remarkable promise in Isaiah 55.  Our preaching is not in vain!  The Word of God never returns to him empty.  It always achieves something and it always accomplishes his purposes.  We may not ever even see the results ourselves, but God’s purpose will always be accomplished when we share his Word.

It has been an encouragement for all pastors attending conference to learn better ways to share God’s Word through the sermon.  Through our preaching, we can motivate and encourage others to be faithful and fearless preachers.  Best of all, it is God himself who will bless our work.
